That vile e-mail forward about Muslims
There's a bit of hateful garbage about Muslims that is making the rounds -- most of you have probably see it. It starts out by asking whether Muslims can be good Americans and then giving a long list of reasons why supposedly they cannot, and finishes by saying that Barak Obama is Muslim (which he isn't, he's some variety of entirely respectable mainline Protestant) and that if he's elected he'll be sworn in on the Koran (because apparently they can't tell the black Senator from Illinois from the black U.S. House Representative from Minneapolis. Keith Ellison really IS Muslim and really WAS sworn in on a Koran -- the one that once belonged to Thomas Jefferson -- but is not, in fact, running for President.)
Anyway,
joykins1 came up with a really excellent rebuttal to this bit of vitriol, which you should all C&P and send back to any idiot who forwards you the original. It starts out by asking whether Christians can be good Americans, and then gives a long list of reasons why in fact they can't. (The really funny thing is that since Joy, the author of the rebuttal, is herself actually a Christian, she was able to come up with a list of reasons that only slightly distorted Christian doctrine, as opposed to the original, which refers to Allah as "the moon god of Arabia.")
